Off to Houston!

Well, finally the time has arrived for me to go to Houston to attend "Adorn me", a jewellry-making retreat. I am very excited. I am almost done packing, (and worrying about whether all the pliers, hammers and wire will give me trouble at the airport) and am off early tomorrow morning. See you next week!

I guess not!

Here I thought it was spring on the weekend and then reality set in.
A 3 hour commute home in the snow made me realize we do live in Canada... Here is my backyard. You would think it was Christmas!

Spring?

Is spring here? Judging from this morning's weather forecast maybe not... But yesterday and Saturday it sure felt and looked like it. I went for a long walk and took some pictures from the ravive behind our house, part of the Rouge River Valley. Deer and foxes roam through here and come and visit us every now and then. It was inspiring to feel and see the sun yesterday. I can't wait for it to be really spring!!

One more week....

One more week and then I am off to "Adorn me" in Houston. I can't wait. I have been getting my tools and supplies together. One stop I had to make today was Active Surplus to buy little screws, washers etc for one class. It is a fun place and I could spend hours there! http://www.activesurplus.com/

Here is a picture of one of the classes I am taking.

Communication

Hmmm, an interesting topic. It is a great thing when it works! In the timespan of 5 minutes 2 miscommunications and no one thinks they did anything. Do you recognize this or am I the only one that wonders how these things happen... It drives me a bit squirly.

Olympic flame

Another highlight in my life. The Olympic cauldron has been lit to open the XXI Winter Games. I am not a big sports fan but watching the olympic opening ceremony was an absolute highlight. I am proud to be an almost Canadian!!!

A Valentine's throne....

I have to share this new discovery with you. I have been driving past this vintage store on Gerard street on my way to work for the last 4 years and am always too early or in too much of a rush to go home. BUT...I saw this red chair in the window and decided I had to see and try it.
I fell in love with it and yes, it is in our living room now. It's like a little throne. I need someone to get me a crown!

Periwinkle

Besides the fact that it is a pretty colour, I have become a vendor there.... Perwinkle is a store front that provides designers, artists and entrepreneurs the opportunity to display and sell their work to bring you handmade, hand selected one-of a-kind items. They house over 50 local designers, artist and vendors. And I am now one of them... !! I am excited and hope you will go visit this lovely store. It is located at 2137 Bloor Street West in Toronto, very close to Mango, the Thai restaurant, but on the south side east of the interesection. Periwinkle adds new items every 2 weeks, to give you up to the date fashion trends. So come visit and support your local designers, artist and entrepreneurs.

Dentist fear

Do you have it, fear of dentists? I do, sort of. I go religiously every 6 months and so hardly ever have a problem. So when I then do need something done I fear the visit! Today I had to have some gum procedure done and boy, I am more sore from the tension of grabbing the arm rests every 2 minutes while trying to relax but just not being able to. Thanks goodness it is over!!

Copper beauty

I had some inspiration tonight and this is the result. What do you think? It is copper and mahogany jasper, sort of a warm red, brown colour. It really goes well with the copper.

Sleepless in Markham

Don't you just hate that feeling that, while you are tired, you can't sleep? I try to relax and not look at the clock, breathing exercises, relaxing images etc etc. And then, when you see you only have 3 hours left before you have to get up, you really blow your chance to actually fall back to sleep. Oh well, to bed early tonight. Yawn.....
