Long live the king. Today the Dutch queen abdicated the throne to her son Willem Alexander. A king, for the first time since 1890. Here is the moment where she signs it away. The ceremony took place on the Dam square in the Dam palace. Orange everywhere!!

Ducks...

I was staying at the Peabody hotel in Orlando. They have a story where some drunken guys placed live decoy ducks in the indoor hotel pond in 1930. It was a big hit and they still have them. They march the ducks on a red carpet from their resting place at night to the pond in the lobby on a red carpet. They stay there until 5 pm and then they marched back to the elevator to go back to their home for the night. So cute!!

Advantages of travel

Travel is tiring and not quite as glamorous as one would think. You spend a lot of time on your own and hotels, while nice are still not home. However, you have to look at the bright side of life and find joy in what you do. Well, here in Florida I found an amazing bead store, through directions from my friend Rebekah, who took me there, It is called Beads gone wild. A better name would  be Karen gone wild... ;) AMAZING!!!!!

Friends help friends......

Last Sunday was the fund raiser for our friend Nancy who was diagnosed with cancer and is in a rehabilitation facility to recover from spinal surgery. A bad time for a very wonderful person. A fund raiser was organized to help her with her medical bills. Hopefully o lot was raised! I bought a beautiful angel encaustic piece Nancy made herself. There were many pieces. In addition there was jewelry, a fifty/fifty draw, raffle tickets and lots of friends who came out to help Nancy. Let's hope it works out! The aftermath has been the realization that Nancy brings many people together and without her many of us would not know each other. It is times like this that tell you that friends do help friends or they are not really friends....!
