Wedding bells

I love weddings. These days, they are few and far between and so I was excited when my nephew here in Toronto, my brother's son, called us to say he had asked his girlfriend to marry him. Exciting and congratulations Tracy and Steven!

Gardening

I cannot begin to tell you how tired and sore I am... We have a very large garden, about half an acre. I decided to tackle the flower beds as it looked like a meadow where cows could quite happily graze.... So far the deer like it too. I rented a roto-tiller and attacked! Well, 8 wheel barrels full of weeds and the edges are done. That`s right, after 3 days the edges and the beds will have to wait until I recover. It looks a lot better already. I do hope the deer will keep coming back, even though my cedars are not too happy with them. We found a piece of one of the antlers. I wonder if that hurts when it break off. They are white tail deer like this one.

New Blog Layout

Well, do you like my new layout? I am happy with it and am proud to say I did it myself. HTML code and everything! I am still trying to figure out how to add some neat buttons. You'll see when I am succesful... There are some good websites that provided the information I needed and voila!

Exciting surprise!!

Today I got an exciting surprise. I received an email from Stampington to say that my article on “Wire-Wrapped Collage Beads”, which appeared in the Volume 3 issue of Belle Jewelry has been chosen for Stampington & Company’s annual publication, “Hand Crafted: The Best of Stampington & Company.” How great is that?!

This inspires me to make more of them. They truly were fun to do. This is what they looked like:

A glorious weekend

Wow, what a great weekend. The weather was just stunning. I spent time at Zoe's Dance competition. It was excellent. Here is Zoe showing off the costume for her tap performance.

And I could see so well.... Why you may ask? A few weeks ago I noticed that I truly had trouble adjusting between distance, computer and reading. I kept having to take my glasses off and ultimately they broke. A sign I think to get progressive lenses. I was a little concerned that it would be hard to adjust to but, with the latest technology (and many dollars later....) it was a breeze. Life looks pretty clear again!

TGIF

It is Friday and I am glad it is! I am tired and need some downtime... Zoe is in a dance competition though so we'll be going downtown. It is fun to see her dance. She loves it! I will also go for my walk and listen to "the girl with the dragon tattoo". It is a great book. I am already eyeing the other one... It is also the gem show but I am making myself stay away. How many beads does one person need..?!

Travel Season

Spring is travel season for me. I have done 2 so far and have 6 more to go..... Tomorrow I am off to Orlando. It will be 26 degrees Celsius and rain. Oh goodie, humid. Carmi would love this one . She is enjoying Paris, the lucky girl. Oh well, I usually try to find something fun to do so it won't be an ordeal. Off I go...

Inspiration

While in Seattle I walked aorund and just love to check out a different city. There was a great Barnes & Noble and I found the new jewelry publication from Stampington. It is called Jewelry Affaire and is great. If you see it, check it out.

US customs

I am on my way to Seattle. I have a nexus card to be able to cross the border without a lot of hassle. You have to pay, you go for an interview you get approved and off you go. It is supposed to go that way. Today though I had a guy just nasty. He asked me why I had one. I am not a Canadian citizen and so the process if just a bit different but after all they approved me. He even went as far as turning around and telling an other agent how ridiculous is was that I had been approved. Boy, I have teeth marks in my tongue from telling him where to go. Going to jail though was just not worth my while.... What a jerk!!

Happy Easter

This weekend was truly amazing, wasn't it, with this weather?! It was like a warm night in July. My sister's birthday is tomorrow and we were invited to a little party at her house. Can you imagine, dinner outside on April 3rd..? Just great! Gefeliciteerd Isabel!
